NACS European Convenience Retail Awards recognize outstanding achievements in the European retail community.
Nominations are open for the 12th annual NACS European Convenience Retail Awards to be presented at the NACS Convenience Summit Europe in Berlin, 4 June 2020. The prestigious awards provide one of the greatest benchmarks of global convenience retailing excellence.

Over the years, entrants from multiple European countries and diverse types of convenience formats and company sizes have participated. The competition is rigorous, and the benefits of participation are numerous.

Awards are presented in four categories:
• NACS International Convenience Retailer of the Year
• NACS European Convenience Industry Leader of the Year
• NACS European Convenience Retail Sustainability Award (sponsored by Coca-Cola)
• NACS European Convenience Retail Technology Award (sponsored by PDI)

István Kapitány, executive vice president of Shell Retail, was named the 2019 NACS European Convenience Industry Leader of the Year, an award sponsored by Mondelēz International.

Reitan Convenience Denmark won the 2019 NACS International Convenience Retailer of the Year Award, sponsored by Jack Link’s. The award recognizes an innovative and successful international convenience store that breaks new ground and sets new innovative standards for the industry. The winner earns the accolade of “the best convenience store in the world.”

Ireland-based convenience retailer Applegreen won the 2019 NACS European Convenience Retail Technology Award, sponsored by PDI. First introduced in 2015, the award recognizes retail companies that are making far-sighted, long-term investments in technology innovation, keeping retailers convenient and hassle-free for customers.

U.K.-based retailer Thornton’s Budgens won the 2019 NACS European Convenience Retail Sustainability Award, sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company. Thornton’s Budgens was recognized for its outstanding pursuit of a significant and compelling sustainability initiative that has significantly improved commercial performance, competitiveness, customer perception, staff engagement and prospects for continued financial strength.

The 2020 NACS Convenience Summit Europe will be held 2-4 June in Berlin, Germany. The NACS Convenience Summit Europe brings together convenience and fuel retailing industry professionals from around the world for new knowledge, new commercial connections and networking and the opportunity to discover and discuss new ideas from retail store tours.
